And now, the end is near.... In Newsweek, Nate Silver provides a useful hour-by-hour description of what to expect tomorrow.  Meanwhile, I see that David Broder thinks this has been the best election campaign ever.  Yeah, not so much. It was the greatest primary campaign ever.  Both the Democrat and Republican races being seen as up for...

I'm looking forward to seeing how much actual voting patterns this year differ from those we've seen in recent elections. That kind of thing is always interesting.

Not that it'll happen, but I'm looking forward to a surprise McCain win. Absent that (since it's not going to happen), I'm looking forward a reaction by the Right similar to the Left's reaction to Bush which will hopefully cripple Obama's ability to carry forward with the left-wing agenda he will otherwise attempt to impose.

Along with that, I'm looking forward to a number of Obama missteps and concessions to pragmatism that'll piss off the Obamaton/Kossak crowd.

Hey -- you asked!

If McCain wins, God help the country because half the Democrats will out for his scalp from day one.

No, I think it's time for the Democrats to have a go at trying to govern the country. I promise not to be difficult or intractable, and definately promise to avoid using racial or religious epithets in referring to the Chief Executive. Refraining from epithets is of course a lot more than most Democrats have managed these past 8 years, but I have always striven to rise above that level myself.....

It would appear that some of us are unschooled on the "running" the country identity. Read the Constitution and get back to me on what role the Congress plays in "running" the country. And by the way, the dems have been running this country for two years (God help us) and Obama is part of that system, so voting the bums out does not figure in some people's argument for their vote.

What am I looking for?

No more mention of Reagan Democrats for at least two years. No more campaign thrust-and-parry for at least two years (until the 2012ers start getting their campaigns going). No more "Race to the White House 2008" with David Gregory.

I'm just totally sick of electoral politics. Thank god it will ease up for at least a year or two until the mid-term elections.

Dr. Drezner, I must ask what is up with the postings of late? Is someone potentially in line for an Obama administration position?
With respect to the tenor of the general election, it was defined by the media (led by Obama). McCain has no need to burnish his image with the MEDIA. The media owe McCain an appology. As for Obama reaching across party lines per his message - I must have missed that one.I can't think of one meaningful issue during the campaign that crossed party lines.Furthermore, the Pelosi Reid Dean group don't care and won't care of bipartisan action.

It's interesting how the wingnuts think Obama's memoirs were ghost-written. It's exactly what everybody said about Frederick Douglass 150 years ago. I guess we haven't evolved as much as we think.
