Clearly, I am old and unprofessional

Steve Clemons is advertising a gala auction event for the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.  You can bid on dates for dynamic YPFP men or women

You can also bid for lunches with distinguished members of America's foreign policy community.  Indeed, Steve goes on to reproduce "the impressive list of foreign policy luminaries who have offered to participate in YPFP's silent auction."  And lo and behold, I see that FP's own Tom Ricks and Stephen M. Walt are on the list.

The hard-working staff here at drezner.foreignpolicy.com congratulates our blogging colleagues for having the necessary foreign policy gravitas to command multiple bids on lunches.

Your humble blogger, on the other hand, looks forward to wallowing in self-pity schmoozing with Mark Lynch, Laura Rozen and the cast and crew of Shadow Government on the day of the auction.

Too bad Dan

We were going to invite you to the exclusive Passport dance party but it sounds like you have plans

A little confused

I looked at the profiles, and it doesn't look like most of the men or women in this auction are actually foreign policy professionals. Are these just friends of young foreign policy professionals who were willing to put themselves up on the auction block? If so, does that imply that the young foreign policy professionals themselves might be:

A. Unattractive
B. Too serious for their own good
C. Both?

The more plausible -- but less entertaining -- option of course is that most of them may already be married or otherwise attached, but it's more fun to speculate.
