I'll have a longer reaction to the 2010 National Security Strategy once I've, you know, actually read it.  Of course, me needing to read it will not stop commenters from commenting.  So fire away.

NSS Query

Does anyone at all still laugh at the zombie references?

I still remember when I gave up knock-knock jokes. It was a tough decision, one that took iron resolve and self-discipline to maintain because here and there I could still find people who laughed at them. Mostly younger people -- I was about 10 at the time -- so I may not have been giving up quite as much as I then thought. Anyway, I had the idea then that attempts at humor that produced rolling of the eyes was a bad thing. The stand-up comics' phrase for it is "dying on stage," which was dramatic enough to impress on me that it was something I did not want to do. I couldn't get out of my mind the image of an audience groaning, booing, throwing fruit and shouting "boring!" "you suck!" "refund!" and "tenure!" Not sure why that last one made such an impression, but there you are.

I guess the whole situation was one of those interesting "psychic income/psychic cost" problems. It might have been more difficult if I'd ever thought knock-knock jokes were funny myself. Then as now I was very fashion-conscious, and aware that they were several years out of style, so that may have factored into my thinking. Anyway, I throw out this personal anecdote as an aside to a question asked in good faith, and not intended to appear judgmental of anything, no matter how tiresome it might be.

Also, I noticed that the word "Israel" appears in Dan's post here. As FP's blogs have evolved, that fact practically guarantees an onslaught by one or more commenters preoccupied with Jews (sorry, with Zionism.....oh, whom are we kidding? Of course it's with Jews) who've convinced themselves that making -- and repeating, many times -- analogies between Israel and the Nazis makes them the world's most clever people. I thought if I wanted to sound any other note at all, I'd better do it right away.

SHUT UP With your Crapola!

How many times did Zathras talk about himself in his last post:

Zathras = 17 (including the count where he mentioned that he sucked)

You´re reading Foreing Policy, of course the blogs are going to polemic flashpoint issues about Isreal/jews/Zionists you tool. Wanna read some other right wing propaganda mag go and buy womans weekly, i hear they have a nice article about maternity dresses this week. YOu might like to check it out.

And of course you sound judgemental, you´re opening paragraph was an attack on Daniel using outdated jokes. Well maybe to your retrotarded brain, but not to ours. We find his posts interesting and informing. Just wish others had the time to make their blogs more interesting to read.

You´ve obviously got a jew complex and you sound like you wanted to be like Daniel but failed in life, so now you attack his posts as retribution. Don´t be so sour. :)

This post needs a Wordle!

It's pretty clear to me that this post needs a Wordle!

(Are we all tired of seeing them? Yes. Can we learn anything from them? Probably not. Will that prevent me from posting one? No!)

Here it is: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/40028/wordle.pdf

The National Security Strategy? Let's see.

I read the whole thing this morning, and I'm not particularly impressed.

It's mostly just a waste of time. While there are some security goals outlaid, most of it reads like a laundry list of Obama projects (both domestic and foreign), with a metric ton of fluff mixed in. Heck, it takes them more than 10 pages (not including Obama's introduction) just to start talking specifics on national security!

The document completely waters down the "National Security" concept, to include essentially everything from domestic economy initiatives (I'm not joking about that), to education, and so forth. It's a joke, and a waste of time that could have been written in 5 pages with much more clarity.

Religion has nothing to do

Religion has nothing to do with it my brother. Don´t hate the person, hate the institution. Remove the religion away from it and you´ll see whats really going on behind it. Its a fight for resources, land, etc. Yes, neo colonialism.

The strategy cites examples...

The strategy cites examples of how the U.S. aims to "promote dignity ... through development efforts." They include, the Global Health Initiative (coach outlet stores ), U.S. food security programs and leadership in humanitarian crises, such as "Haiti's devastating earthquake."
